Tonight Aydin sang to me after putting her down in her crib for bed. Our friend Kacy's family has a "Goodbye" song that they always sing to their kids when they go to bed for the night. When there are family gatherings (which is frequent), it's not uncommon for 15-20 people to sing the "Goodbye" song to the children. We started singing this song recently and I guess it stuck. You wave your arm bye and sing the simple tune: "Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye, bye bye." I'm sure you'll hear it sometime soon.
After the "Goodbye" song she pointed to her head, then her toes, and said the words in a singsongy voice. I realized that she was trying to sing, "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes."
This is actually the first time that Aydin has tried to sing anything. Sure, she moves to music, responds to rhythm, and even gesticulates the little arachnid in "The Itsy Bitsy Spider," but never before has she sung.
We sang "Head..." today while watching a video and it was the first time she really tried to keep up with pointing at the body parts. So I guess she must be a lot like her mother, "processing" her day right before bed!

How very sweet! How quickly she's stepping away from 'baby' and towards 'little girl' .
