I took care of 4-month-old Olivia today from 8:30-3:30 and Aydin did such a good job. She went through many phases: delight ("It's a little, tiny baby!") to irritation ("No Mommy carry baby!") to resignation ("Oh, baby cry-innnng."). Overall, it was a tiring, joyous, enlightening day. Glad we don't have a newborn right now but not overly daunted about the prospect of having another critter to goo-goo-ga-ga at. I have a feeling they'll be more all-day-Wednesdays in my future, as Sofia, Olivia's mom, really needs help and I want to help her. That's what mommy friends are for, especially those of us who, for economic reasons as well as chance, have ended up in places where our extended family doesn't live.
