Aydin has really gotten into imitating words lately. Yesterday, while talking to her Baba on the phone, she said "Thank You" almost perfectly. She says, "Woooow" and "Uh-oh" (only it sounds kind of like "Uh-uhhhhhh") and pretty much tries out anything you say in a sing-songy, high-pitched way. It's so neat!
She still doesn't seem to want to walk yet, but she has expressed an interest in climbing. She'll pull up to stand, then raise a leg up like she's trying to sit on a horse (or climb up). She climbed a bunch of stairs this afternoon and even attempted going down backwards this morning. (She accomplished climbing down weeks ago on the playground but refused to do it after hitting her noggin once and getting a little bruise). Today she even figured out how to pull her leg up to sit on her Winnie the Pooh car so she could put her hands on the steering wheel and pretend to drive!
In other news, Aydin hung out with Mimi and Skip for two-and-a-half hours WITHOUT Mommy yesterday afternoon! (Ok, this is more of a Mommy milestone than an Aydin one.) She only pitched a fit for an hour. Apparently she got quite a workout, crawling all over the house, looking for me. Mom said that at no time was she scared... she was just plain mad. This little lassie knows what she wants and lets you KNOW when she is displeased. We're happy to make a little progress with separating from Mommy, even though we had to pay the price a little bit afterwards: she was super-clingy the rest of the night!
As Taylor said on Skype Sunday, our little Aydin looks more like a little girl than a baby now. We can't believe how fast she is growing up. This age is particularly marvelous: her personlity is really starting to shine, and she's just soaking up everything.
