We had a really good weekend. Saturday was a "sleepy" day for you, so your baba and I got to catch up on our rest. I even took a two-hour nap — an inconceivable activity for the pre-Aydin me. The three of us walked up to the farmer's market at Borough Hall and bought turkey sausage from DiPaulo's for the white bean, chicken, and sausage casserole I was planning to make. We also bought a loaf of peasant bread from the vendor next door to DiPaulo's. It was very cold on Saturday and we bundled you up in lots of fleece and wool. Your dad pushed the stroller while I did the shopping at Garden of Eden, lamenting its high prices all the while. When we got home we drank lots of hot tea and watched Poirot, our favorite mystery series. What can I say? Your baba and mama's viewing tastes run towards the 80-year-old's.
It's a good thing Saturday was restful because Sunday was go-go-go. Sunday was special in another way too — it was the first snowfall of the season! Light flakes were falling as we had our first feeding of the day. There wasn't too much precipitation — no more than an inch or so — but it certainly put me in the holiday spirit. Now all the Christmas tree vendors stationed on strategic street corners in our neighborhood don't look so out of place.
Burcu was in town from San Francisco, having spent the previous few days staying at your Nanan's place in DC (B was there to present a paper at a conference). We met Osman, Alex, Eve, and Burcu at Robin des Bois for brunch. You and I were a little late since you needed to eat right when we were supposed to meet everybody. No matter — a star always makes a late entrance, no? You were intrigued by all the sights and sounds of the always-bustling RDB. You sat on my lap happily, taking in the enormous chandelier, wooden Indian statue, and Playboy pinball machine; you didn't mind the loud music or the din of chatter of so many diners packed into the tight space. When my food came Baba took you and you were just as happy there! You did get sleepy, though, so I popped you into the Bjorn and coaxed you to sleep. You'll get to see Burcu again in April when we go to Ireland for Osman and Susan's wedding. Now THAT will be something to blog about, n'est ce pas? Speaking of Susan, you finally got to meet her Sunday afternoon. She and Osman stopped by and we had hot cider and cookie
s. Poor thing, you got a little cranky because you missed your afternoon nap. Well, Baba and I learned a valuable lesson: Aydin needs her sleep. One other important thing happened on Sunday: your head got bigger! Sometime between 4am and 7:30am, your head grew. It's more round now! See what I mean?
