For Thanksgiving 2007, we drove down to Washington, D.C., to visit your Nanan Jo Anne. What a treat! We stayed at her apartment at the Westchester on Cathedral Avenue in NW DC, just a few blocks from the National Cathedral, where your Nanan works. We got up really early Wednesday morning (thanks to you) and made it to DC by noon. It was a beautiful fall day and the trees along the NJ Turnpike were in full color.

Washington was fun. We ate turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes (with marshmallows on top), cranberry sauce, and
gravy at Nanan's house. Your Nanan loved to hold you and shower you with kisses. Your uncle Cinar and aunt Hilary came over for Thanksgiving supper as well. You pretty much stole the show, with your smiling and adorable antics. On Friday you met Uncle John (Hilary's dad) and Aunt Susan (Hilary's step-mom) over at their house on Capitol Hill. Uncle John is a phenomenal photographer. Check out the amazing pictures he took of you! He takes captivating portraits. There are a few photos of you that finally capture your good-natured spirit and pleasure spending time with people.

After the fun visit to 906 E Capitol Street we went to Georgetown to visit Sean and Nesibe. We were supposed to have a ham for dinner but they didn't get to put it in the oven till 6:30pm. We had pizza instead from a place called Angelo's, I think. It was pretty good. Sean tried to get us to eat some of his white pizza with anchovies. No way! I'm taking a risk when I assume you're thankful I spared you the salty-fish tasting breast milk!
The rest of the weekend just flew by. We took some nice walks since the weather was so mild; I even nursed you al fresco for the first time, sitting on a bench in front of the NCS library. We toured the gardens of the National Cathedral, where you were admired by all. I thought it was strange that the roses were still in bloom. I know it's due to global warming, but I have to confess it was wonderful to
get to enjoy the fall foliage on our walks. They were at their peak that weekend. The Japanese maples near your Nanan's place were almost electric. They were a vibrant shade of red, the color of the flesh of plums. And the yellow ginko trees! Schoolbus yellow. There were even some orange leaves on some trees I couldn't identify. Just gorgeous, I tell you! I'm glad you got to enjoy them too.
