Portraits of a (Little) Lady

We woke up this morning (around 6:45am) to a truly novel sight on the video monitor: Aydin sleeping completely on her right side. Up till now, she's been an exclusively on-the-back sleeper, usually with arms flung wide on either side (or over her eyes). We watched to see what would happen: sure enough, after a few minutes, she toppled over to her stomach. She wasn't too pleased about that, but since she knows how to push up from her stomach to sit, she immediately began to try to scale her "soothing sounds" aquarium. Looks like the party's over. Aydin's on the move!

(As such, the first thing we did this morning was lowered her crib mattress to the lowest level.)

Here are some portraits taken Friday, just because it's been awhile. Our little one likes to roll back and forth and push up to sit A LOT. Other news? One of her two top teeth has officially broken through; the second is right behind! We know because Aydin tries to bite my collarbone, shoulder, and jawbone constantly. Her daytime sleep has been a little more erratic due to the teething (and so many new physical discoveries), but all in all, she has become even more expressive in her actions and sounds. She growls, shudders, babbles, and shakes her arms in the air. We think she is a delightful, odd little bean... truly one-of-a-kind. These have been fun, fun days indeed. No wonder they say the 9-12month period is the Golden Age!

As always, by clicking on a photo you can see it much larger (in a new window).
