Hello,
A late-evening (for us) dispatch to officially announce that our little one knows how to wave "bye-bye!" Probably not the most important milestone in the annals of baby memories, but we were excited, I guess because it's yet another sign of our child's emerging mental abilities. (It was also a question the pediatrician asked when we went in for her nine-month checkup: Is she crawling?" -No. Does she recognize her own name? - Yes. Does she pick up two things and bang them together? -Yepperoo. Does she wave 'bye? - She does now (five days after the fact). We have a feeling that crawling might not be too far behind. Aydin is moving around A LOT. She does the back-to-side, side-to-tummy, tummy-to-sit maneuver, which actually covers a lot of ground. She keeps one foot on the ground when she comes up, which allows her to pivot easily in a new direction. Needless to say, she's all over the crib. I'm even more grateful to have the video monitor now that she's moving so much. We're reluctant to take off the crib bumpers for fear that she'll get an arm or a leg stuck between the bars of the crib. But then, she is also beginning to use them to get a better hold of the rails, so... we'll just keep watching on the monitor for danger signs and hope (ok, pray) that she doesn't opt for any middle-of-the-night acrobatics!
